METRO RETRO 15 Cent Classic

The Lakewood Theater is very proud and excited to welcome the new sponsor of our 15cent classic movie series, Metro Retro!!!! Metro Retro is a uniquely wonderful new retail store specializing in mid-century collectibles and are located just a few steps from the Lakewood Theater at 2025 Abrams, at the intersection of Gaston and Abrams. Owners Andrea and Laura have long been supporters of the Lakewood Theter and the surrounding community, and have already begun plans to offer special discounts to customers attending the Lakewood�s Classic movie series and are even considering hosting wine and cheese receptions at Metro Retro prior to or just after the classic movie! At each classic film, be sure to look for special items on display throughout the theater from Metro Retro�s huge inventory, many offered at substantial savings. With all this, we hope you�ll agree, our new sponsor, Metro Retro, is the perfect match!

Tuesday, April 9th, 2002: Our METRO RETRO 15 Cent Classic for April 9th, is the considered by many to be the �Greatest Event In Motion Picture History�, just in time for Easter , Cecil B. Demiles�, �TEN COMMANDMENTS�, starring Charlton Heston.

DOORS OPEN FOR THIS MONTH�S SCREENING AT A SPECIAL EARLY TIME: 6:00PM, for the LAKEWOOD ARTIST BENEFIT AND EXHIBITION (See Below).

The movie begins at 7:30PM.

Arrive early to tour the exhibition of Lakewood Artists (See Below for detailed info), and for the Lakewood's ALL NEW PRESHOW ENTERTAINMENT featuring live, on stage, theater organist BILL FLYNT and the BLUE DIAMOND TRIO!! Join us for a wonderful medley of vintage music, including silent shorts accompanied by the Blue Diamond Trio and Mr Flynt on the Lakewood�s one of a kind, theater pipe organ! Where else can you get all this for 15cents?

LAKEWOOD ARTIST BENEFIT SHOW AND SALE:
Come join the Lakewood Homeowners Association for a special treat at their April 9th meeting. Local artists will display and sell their art to benefit the "Landscape Lakewood! - You Make it Grow" beautification fundraising campaign. Each artist will donate a piece of art to be sold at silent auction with proceeds going to Lakewood Beautification.
Everyone is welcome.

ARTISTS FEATURED INCLUDE:
Viv Harris-Bonham - Hand painted porcelain boxes and drawings
Kathy Boortz - Found Objects, sculptures, themes of nature
Shannon Bush - Handmade and custom jewelry
Linda Gossett - Festive and functional low fired ceramics
Niki Gulley - Impressionist Landscapes florals-pastels
David Hickman - Sculptures small and large scale (well known for public art)
Alice O'Leary - Hand painted glass and tableware, individually signed
Kay Slaughter - Weaver, clothes and home accessories
Dahlia Woods - Acrylics and watercolor, scenes of Dallas and around the world

Doors open at 6:00p.m. Admission is free for members of the Lakewood Homeowners
Association. Art will be on display until 7:30p.m.

On the second Tuesday of each month the Lakewood Theater and METRO RETRO present a classic film from the golden age of cinema, the way they were originally meant to be seen, in a fully restored, 1938 Art Deco Movie Palace, on one of the largest cinemascope screens in Texas.

Thanks to the generous sponsorship by METRO RETRO, admission to all films in this series is the same price as it was when the Lakewood Theater first opened, 15 CENTS, that's right, 15 CENTS ADMISSION! What�s more, POPCORN IS ONLY 25 CENTS! It�s easy to see why the Lakewood's Classic Film Series has been named the BEST IN THE CITY, three years in a row!
